George Blagden is a London-based stage and film actor.

Background[]

Blagden began singing at age 13, performing in various choirs and his own rock band. He attended the Oundle School with a Drama scholarship and appeared in the school's Stahl Theatre in such roles as The Baker in Into the Woods and Marc in 'Art'. Also while at Oundle, Blagden became a member of the National Youth Theatre and was selected as one of four students to participate in a masterclass with Sir Ian McKellen. Following his graduation, he studied Acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, from which he graduated in 2011.

He also has a YouTube channel in which he performs covers, often changing lyrics in songs to make them about Les Mis, notably his cover of Death Cab For Cutie's 'I Will Follow You Into The Dark'. He's known as the captain of the e/R ship because of this, and probably spent about 100 hours researching the role of Grantaire just so that he could get those subtle glances at Enjolras (Tveit) in the movie. Good on you, George. He really understands Grantaire and that made him perfect for the role.

In 2011, Blagden received his first acting role as Andy in the feature film The Philosophers, which was theatrically released in 2013. He has since appeared in Wrath of the Titans, Les Misérables, Vikings, and Versailles.
